Twin sisters: I have two PUNK GIRL Liccas!

Note: Momolita PUNK GIRL Licca is a very sought-after Limited Edition Licca that was designed by the popular Japanese 'doll clothing brand' momolita_preta. Since Takara made her in collaboration with Momolita, the punk clothes and even the shoes she is wearing are Momolita's own designs.
Momolita_preta is happy to contribute doll clothing patterns to Japanese doll magazines and indeed this is how word of their intricate punk doll fashion has spread among the Japanese (AND Western) fans. The designs are gorgeous and well-received among fans of Licca, Blythe and other popular dolls. The clothes and shoes can be bought at doll conventions in Japan or at Momolita's website (see bottom for link), though they are usually sold out extremely fast.

Designs often include punk platform leather shoes in different colors, tights in cool patterns (tiger print, striped, dotted, etc), shirts with ruffled collars, t-shirts with punk prints (skulls, etc) on the front, jewelry, striped socks, all kinds of punk skirts and other nifty things.

Momolita's designs don't stop at crafting unique patterns for the doll community. The great choice and combination of fabrics and their beautiful doll fashion photography in doll magazines are equally inspiring and encouraging. You can spot a Momolita_preta design from miles away!
It is no wonder PUNK GIRL Licca is a very popular Licca! She is one of the most unique-looking ones out there (the burgundy hair color alone is *amazing*) and a lot of attention was given to her hip and must-have outfit. I'd say she has one of the best outfits ever given to a Licca doll.

See the official photo of the doll by Momolita. Click on it for a bigger version. You can see just how brilliant her default outfit is.
As far as I know there were 2 versions of the doll available. One had a black leather jacket, dark green checkered skirt and either black or deep red heavy shoes and the other one had a white leather jacket, red checkered skirt and deep red heavy shoes. I think the color of the shoes (black or deep red) varied from box to box. Momolita is well-known for manifacturing detailed and realistic-looking shoes. Punk Girl's shoes had black laces on both versions.

Both doll versions also wore a white t-shirt with a black skull on the front and black text saying 'MOMOLITA' and black socks over black fishnet stockings. There was also a black leather bag with silver studs.

She was released in July 2003 and originally cost 9,400 Yen ($80). The doll was available via online order on the Momolita official site at zerogoodsuniverse.com. Apparently all the 300 units were sold out very fast.

Because she's so popular, you rarely see their owners parting with her. It isn't as common to see her on auctions or private sales as much as other Limiteds. When she does pop up (maybe once or twice a year?), the prices are higher than the price she went for originally and can be as high as 15,000 or 25,000 Yen on Yahoo!Japan auctions. The minimum asking price on a private sale among English-speaking fans is at least $100.

In the past she has slipped through my fingers a couple of times. Once a fellow European collector was selling her for over $100 but it didn't work out for me because of payment methods. To my huge disappointment I couldn't get my beloved doll. This was the time I thought I've lost her for good (what ARE the odds of her being in Europe already? So close yet so far away!).

Since the beginning of my discovery of Licca-chan, Punk Girl Licca was among TOP 3 Liccas I wanted to own. She was pretty much the Holy Grail of my wishlist Liccas. I never had much hope of owning her because of the demand and the high prices. "So many people want her... What are the chances of me getting her?"

There was also a time I tried to bid on her on Yahoo!Japan but the high bid was already over my limit. To get her via Y!J seemed impossible to me because it's much harder to bid against the Japanese fans simply because of the large numbers of them! They're also willing to bid very high to get a doll this special.

And then one day in Spring '07 I was offered Momolita Licca by a fellow fan online who has seen my website and my Licca photography. I was asked if I'd like to give her a new home. Unfortunately the owner didn't have her original clothes but the email said since she was a favourite of mine, would it be possible for me to adopt her? O___O
By the time I finished reading that message my head was already spinning! What an amazing, amazing chance to get a top priority Licca... I could hardly believe it, it almost seemed to good to be true. *cries*

OF COURSE I adopted her, yaay! Hehe, like that needed any re-thinking. The answer was obvious but at the same time I was still in shock! It was just such an exciting moment for me. My heart was screaming 'yes' before I even clicked the Reply button and sent the kind fan a message. :o)
Thanks to him I now own one of my favourite Liccas of all time. The price for her was good, too. Since she didn't have her outfit anymore, the price dropped considerably. Momolita's clothes and shoes alone are worth a lot. It didn't bother me it's just the doll I'd be getting because I always go for the look of the doll, the hairstyle and haircolor, and not the outfits. I like to choose the outfits on my own. ^^ The only part of the outfit I'll be trying to get in the future are the Momolita shoes.

Eye detail The rest can easily be a mix & match outfit that looks similar to the original or like something completely new and different (Licca-chan loves to be re-dressed!). I'm totally into re-dressing my dolls and choosing new styles for them that suit their personalities. To me the best thing about getting Punk Girl Licca were all the clothing styles and fashions I already had in mind for her! She was a doll I was searching for the longest time since Licca dolls sparked my interest. I truly longed for her.
There were plans to bring her to life through different fashions, many of them going into a completely different direction than her default Punk style. "She could be so much more!" I thought. She has that amazing *potential* and yes, she is recognizable because of the hairstyle and haircolor, but to me the really fun part starts when you give her new clothes! She is much like my lovely Yukata Licca in that sense. Re-dress her and she takes your breath away. Can't wait to try out lots of clothes on her.

A big BIG Thank You to Marcos for letting me adopt her. ♥ She has traveled a long way from the States to this tiny part in Europe but she is finally home. Finally home.

EDIT: Autumn '07: I have received another PUNK GIRL Licca that I got nude on Yahoo!Japan auctions. Now I've got twins and they're the coolest pair of dolls ever. :) The new punk Licca has flatter hair (she's in perfect condition), I've added pics of her above. I love them both so much!
