Note: My favourite 1/6 doll made for customizing is the little EB-mini body from the Volks 'Dollfie' doll line. Before Volks started producing their now well-known ball-joint doll line Super Dollfie, they were focusing on the 1/6 line called Dollfie. Presenting a wide range of doll bodies, heads, doll hair and lots of other hobby tools for doll-making fans, it is my fave doll company today next to Takara-Tomy. Just one of the dolls available is the child-like EB-mini. 22 cm / 8.6 '' tall, it has a small articulated body coming in 3 skin types/colors - normal, tan and white. Normal (beige) is my fave color and it's indeed the most common one but when a pretty white-skinned mini custom head appeared on Yahoo!Japan, I just had to bid on it and make a mental note to buy a white-skinned body for her, as well. The customizer painted a lovely face on mini's head - cute, wine red eyes, rosy cheeks and smiling lips. She has original good-quality hair rooted by the factory, it was just curled (it's slightly wavy) by the customizer, plus she cut the hair in front to make bangs. If you're not into customizing and painting on the doll heads yourself (they come blank when you buy them), you can buy them from customizers showcasing their work online, lots of times also on eBay, and Yahoo!Japan, of course. I don't have enough practice myself to create faces this lovely yet, so I got a head done by another customizer. ^^ I'd like to have a whole bunch of minis - my own work and work done by others. When you buy the body it comes with a blank, unpainted face and no hair. It costs $17. It's possible to get a separate pre-rooted (as in 'with hair') head with a blank face which is also $17. There are many hair colors to choose from.
The body is similar to Licca's in proportions, though it is slimmer in the waist and narrower in the chest. Arms are also skinnier. I want body C because at least it fills out in the chest area/breasts a bit and it doesn't look so terribly skinny in Licca clothes like A and B bodies do. There's a bit of a goth in her! I'd call her "gothic lady"... She's a delight to pose because of the articulation and despite the slight goth feel of her appearance (it also depends on the clothing style), she looks happy-go-lucky and care-free. Her smile is very wide, as you can see - I love that about her! Minis were my first big love when I got into 1/6 dolls, the cherubic face and small, child-like frame were different and fun. They were the first "petite" dolls I really fell for. Once I started collecting Licca, my research on minis was put on hold for a while. I'm happy they're still in my heart, I could never get enough of them! I've named her Clyde. It's a boy's name but I think it suits her! | back | |
