Note: Next to the Blythe line of dolls, Takara is also producing "mini" versions of them called Petite Blythe. They're 11 cm (4.3'') tall, come in many different styles, either as regular series Petites or Limited Edition pieces, and some are Japan Toys R Us Exclusives. Sporting cute names like Caribbean Jewel, Fluffy Cuddly Bed Time, Pow-Wow Poncho, Buttercake Afternoon, etc, they're most lovely, sweet dolls with a little body and a disproportionate head. The first Petite was released in June 2002. My favourite is Kitchen Queen from March 2004 that comes with 2 extra cups, saucer, tray and spoon. Her Petite production number is PBL-27 (27th Petite to be produced). The
original price is 2625 Yen ($22). I got mine never-removed-from box on Yahoo!Japan for less than half the price. ^o^ She's now harder to get than the newer Petites and eBay
prices are quite steep. Her outfit
consists of a green checkered dress, white apron with a little flower on it and a green checkered bow for her bun. The white flats are painted on her feet (Petites don't have
removable shoes). She can open and close her blue eyes. They close when she lies down. She can move her head, arms and legs, too - very well, actually. That's amazing for such a small dolly!
I've named her Nana. She likes cooking, baking, black&white movies, old radio shows and generally taking care of the other dolls in the house. Nana is like a little ray of sunshine! | back | |
